"Never Gonna Fall in Love Over again" is a song co-written and recorded past American pop rock artist Eric Carmen. Information technology was released equally the 2nd single from Carmen's self-titled debut solo album, the song peaked at number eleven on the United states Billboard Hot 100 chart in June 1976, remaining in the Peak xl for 10 weeks.[1] The song reached number one on the Billboard Easy Listening nautical chart. In Canada, information technology was a number-one hit on both charts.[2] [3]

The melody of "Never Gonna Fall in Dearest Again" is based on the third motility (Adagio) from Symphony No. 2 past Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff.

On his second solo LP, Boats Against the Current, Carmen had a subsequent Top forty hit entitled "She Did It", a happy answer to the loneliness and lovelessness described in this song and its as melancholy predecessor, "All By Myself".

Carmen performed "Never Gonna Fall in Love Over again" and his prior hit, "All By Myself" on The Midnight Special tv programme on July 23, 1976 (flavour iv, episode 37). The bear witness was hosted by The Spinners.[4]

Australian vocaliser songwriter Mark Holden recorded and released a version April 1976 as his debut unmarried. The song was a commercial success, peaking at number xiii on the Kent Music Report.[12] [13]

Background and release [edit]

Marking Holden released his debut studio album Dawn in Darkness in 1975. Consisting entirely of original songs, the anthology was a commercial failure, selling approximately 2,000 copies[14] In April 1976 Holden received a telephone call from Colin Petersen, EMI Music Commonwealth of australia's A&R, who suggested he comprehend "Never Gonna Autumn in Honey Again". In his 2017 autobiography, Holden said recording information technology "was a gamble for me to have a hit". Holden promoted the vocal by performing the track on Countdown, where he performed the runway while handing out red carnations to the audition. It became an infamous performance which led to Holden's nickname of "The Carnation Kid"[xv]

Unlike "All by Myself," Carmen'south version of "Never Gonna Fall in Honey Once more" was non released in Australia and therefore did not chart. However, Dana reached #31 in the United kingdom in 1976 with the vocal.[16] Her British release charted concurrently with Carmen'southward and Holden'southward versions.

Other versions [edit]

  • Frank Sinatra performed the vocal many times in concert in the late 1970s, most notably during the 1976 MDA Telethon. Fond of Eric Carmen'south songs, he had arrangements fabricated of both this song and "All Past Myself." He never recorded either song.
  • Tony Burrows covered the song in 1976 with the studio group Magic.
  • Spanish singer Miguel Bosé also covered it (in English) in his debut LP Linda in 1977.
  • John Travolta covered the song in 1978.
  • Tommy Page covered the song on his 1991 album From the Heart.
